One of the most useful, versatile and popular of the injection molding resins we use is PEEK (polyether ether ketone). This unique thermoplastic is ideal for medical applications, and is well suited to a number of other uses as well.

PEEK exhibits superb mechanical properties, and is highly resistant to chemicals and thermal degradation, which makes it very desirable for many plastic injection moldings. It holds up well against high temperatures and long-term liquid submersion, and is very durable in harsh environments. PEEK makes an excellent reinforcement material, providing great tensile strength and low weight.

Though it is a very popular engineering material for injection molding, PEEK is also very difficult to work with. It must be heated to very high temperatures, temperatures at or above the highest range of most injection molding machines.
